Just as a point of online security:  you should NEVER trust someone who contacts you  out of the blue claiming to be someone you know in another space.  For example, if you contacted me online claiming to be the person that I know on SG, I would ALWAYS ask for a confirmation via your account here.

For example:  When my bank (legitimately) contacted me by phone, asking me to call them at a special number about a security problem on my banking account, I called them back AT THE NUMBER ON MY BANKING CARD, escalated the call through a few levels of management and then REAMED THEM OUT  for setting up their customers to be scammed. ... They have now revised their security procedures.
