Music, Music...
Since I was a small fry I've loved rock n roll. Growing up I had two fathers( biological and step) both of whom listened to close to the same music, and a mom who was stuck in the 40's and 50's. Hey nothing wrong with that era of music, but it just never tickled my fancy.
So growing up Rush, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and many others were my first introduction into the world of music. As I grew older I generated a taste for 80's glam rock into Metal. From Poison, Motley Crue, Rat, White Snake and Warrant to Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, Sepultura to many many more.
When I was about 18 my Step father asked me. "Why are you so angry?" All my music seemed like a cat in a blender to him. He misunderstood my love for metal and the energy it was associated with it. He told me then that one day I would come out of this "phase" and settle down. Well to be honest my music seems to get harder and harder progressively, lol.
It's funny it wasn't until a few years ago when my kid brother was growing up and introduced him to System of a Down and Metallica, now those are two of my Step Fathers favorite bands, go figure.
So I mainly enjoy Metal and hard rock, but I told myself long ago not to narrow my gaze to just that genre. I also like many things I didn't when I was younger, more alternative, punk, and a very very bit of hip hop. The only thing that I like from some hip hop is the beat and bass, I think that's what also pulled me to liking Techno and Trance.(I use these as generic terms because I know there as so many class variations of each music type ie. New Metal, Old School Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal, etc.) I love some of the trance that is sounds and beats and bass, it's has the same effect that yanni did for my bio dad, lol just not as lame. It's soothing and makes some environments blend well with what I'm doing.
I have tried to open my mind to new and different music, but I just can't seem to get into gospel and country, oh well.
Well if you got this far down, thanks for reading some of my likes and dislikes and influences to my music choices and I'm always looking for new stuff to listen to.
