I saw this blog homework a while back... Really it was asking about music festivals, but as I'm not a huge music festival man I'm using my own interpretation.
My favorite fest by far is the Colorado Renaissance Festival!
Jousting, artisans, fools, wenches, drunkenly throwing sharp objects... You name it! I celebrated my 30th birthday there this year, it was excellent!
Another fest I love is the Longs Peak Scottish-Irish Highland Festival (which, sadly, I missed today due to work😞). Pipe bands, dance competitions, meat pies, tons of booze, and highland strong-man games. Plus, real jousting! Now, I like the joust they have at the Ren Fest, but it's staged. Not at the Highland Fest! It's an internationally ranked competition where people really get unhorsed.
(@nebula, I recall you mentioned you enjoy Ren Fest jousting-I highly recommend you check out this sort of competition, or just come out to Colorado for next year's😉)
And finally, though I missed this year's (also working), there's the Colorado Burlesque Festival.
It's several days of events that include some of the world's best burlesquers and boylesquers, with some amazing hosts. Sexy, sassy, and often hilarious-it's a fantastic time!
Though this year didn't work out too well, I try to hit all three each year (just like I always try to see the Blackheart shows anytime I can)!
Thanks, as ever, to @missy, @rambo, and @lyxzen for keeping the awesome topics rolling in. Some day I may even get to one the week it comes out😀
