@rambo and @missy have too many good ideas for me to keep up with, so here's an old one...
I live in Boulder, Colorado.
Boulder's right in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, just east of a distinctive formation known as the Flatirons. It makes for beautiful views and easy access to outdoor recreation.
This attracts a certain type of resident (us natives not withstanding)... Boulder is sometimes referred to as the health food capital of the country. Folks are very fit hereabouts. It's also extremely expensive to live here nowadays (similar to Seattle, for example).
Boulder is also home to the University of Colorado.
There are 3-4 other campuses these days, but this is the main campus. I'm an alum.
The area used to be American Indian land (obviously). Chief Niwot of the Southern Arapaho wintered his people here until the settlers kicked him out while looking for gold in 1858.
Here's a statue of the fellow.
There were likely people here much earlier, too. Several years ago a cache of ancient artifacts were discovered in a fellow's yard.
It's a popular area because of the creek (Boulder Creek). It's going to kill us one day...
It actually tried a few years back, when the area experienced historic flooding. About half the city was evacuated.
Ooh yes, and finally (to wrap up this rambling blog)... Boulder, and Boulderites, love animals. To excess. Legally speaking, I'm not my cat's owner-I'm his guardian. Like a child. It also means that there are a lot of random animals that don't fear humans at all.
Like these ducks marching fearlessly up the bike path this morning. Or deer eating people's gardens. Or bears...
