sorry I've not updated in a bit...feeling a lot better. Though my throat is still a tad sore I've basically gotten over the strep completely. Thanks for all the well wishing.
Nothing terribly exciting to report. Today was fairly uneventful. Got a bunch of shit done I needed to do, laundry and groceries, etc.
Been reading Fast Food Nation. It's really pretty scary how people are willing to compromise the safety and health of other people in order to save a buck. You'd think in 2004 that the meat industry wouldn't resemble the meat industry of Upton Sinclair's "The Jungle." Unfortunately the only thing that seems to have really changed is that consumers are more protected. The industry is still exploiting poor migrant and immigrant workers. I'm only half way through the book...I'm not really looking forward to finding out what the other half contains.
Just about a month now till I'm done with my summer gig...I can't wait. I'm really looking forward to having a little time to visit my folks and some of my friends from home. It's been a long time since I've been homesick. Though I do need to figure out what I'm going to do for dough during my down time. Been trying to get in touch with my local union rep but he's not returned my call or e-mail. I'm a little pissed about it. My friend/boss's brother is the vice president of the national iatse so I may have to take her up on her offer having him make a call for me.
Anybody have anything exciting to report?
