Loved this question @rambo since it makes you go back in memory and look at stuff you've not thought about in AGES!!

I've been thinking really who really left an impression on me back as a teen, I could remember a few but also that they didn't really last long. Just now I remembered though.

Nina Hagen!!!

First time I saw her..

.. on MTV or Viva she had dyed her hair to be all in flames (so red-orange-white at the tips of black hair) and invited someone to go with her to some human aid mission for like a year.

Just ticked all the boxes. I was still in school at the time and didn't reply for that, some years later I can tell I should've just gone for it.

It was really a "that woman is so awesome, how could you even" situation

(Answer from the future: So, what would've had to do is to pick up the phone and try hard... And then, if that doesn't work, try again.)

Many "normal" people just thought / think she's completely crazy... what I thought was there's a magic mind that could do think up anything in a woman that just explodes with charm, so classy she could easily do anything. and she does it, conventions just another dimension to play with.

And along all that she actually worked to change things for the better, much different from many celebrities who'd just do that as a professionally laid out PR plan.

Any TV talk shows with her as a guest are highly entertaining because she's usually one of the smarter/better educated people in the group and there's always some idiot man or woman trying to take her apart for "woah, you're DIFFERENT how could you!". Usually it's them that find themselves handed back in pieces, mildy, because 'uh poor thing, what a pity that your thinking is so limited! i hope you get better soon!'

So, that was a really big crush I had there and I could even remember why ;-)

I didn't think about any of that in a long time, how great.

(I googled around and funny enough I suddenly recognized the first of those two pictures because, yeah, I think that was on my desktop for a year or more)
