Well a very controversial act just passed in the United States Senate. The Americans will be blasting roads through the Arctic National Wildlife Preserve and drilling through the tundra to reach a supply of oil that could be about a year and a half supply. It squeaked through the senate and has ended a war with environmentalists who call the reserve, "North Americas Serengeti", because of the rich concentration of wildlife who use the reserve, including caribou, musk oxen, polar bears and million of migratory birds. These animals are all now in danger according to scientists, despite President Bush's soothing claims that there will be no environmental impact "thanks to technology", although he did not disclose precisely which technology he was talking about.
The drilling will begin in 2 years time and wildlife has been sent their notices. In response, the bird population stated that "they couldn't understand the "legal-ease" in their various notices of seizure, and with that, promptly made the documents into nests.
STUPID BUSH QUOTE FOR THE DAY
"We can and should produce more crude oil here at home in environmentally responsible ways. The most promising site for oil in America is a 2,000-acre site in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge..."
