This brings me to ask the question that was recently posted by Comic Great WARRENELLIS in his journal.
What Art Do You Make?
Now it's all too easy to say I don't make art, or I can't draw... but the truth is, almost anything that requires thought is art. Art is excercise for your mind and soul. Now you may be thinking that you don't need art, because you watch the news.. you are up to date, but look at all the clones who watch Fox News and Bill O'Reilly. They see the world through racist, hateful eyes and the weirdest part is, the people that listen to him and them, are the very people that are hurt most by their views.
Let's take for example, O'Reilly's boycott of France. He is of course angry and fanning the flames of hate, because France would not support a war in Iraq. Try not to forget that when you compare polls of Americans... who ALSO don't support the war in Iraq. (Actually Bill is fanning the flames because it is easy to hate, and that makes it easy to have good ratings and make more money). He says France is a bunch of ingrates because the USA saved their ass in WWII, but just hearing those words makes me cringe for two reasons...
Number One, France saved YOUR ass during the American Revolution, a fact too often glossed over when Americans recall their history. The second point is that, yes, Americas involvement was pivitol in WW2, but they ONLY got involved after the rest of the world, had been fighting for years. The world abroad saw Hitler moving in and dove in to save lives. The lives of other people... America got in VERY late. Yes the world is Thankful... but millions of lives would have been spared, millions of Jews would not have been slaughtered, if the USA had been faster to respond to pleas for help. (BTW, even when the USA DID go to war, it was because they were fired upon, and it was a very controversial decision met with much critisism, even to supply England with supplies, let alone assist in a war effort).
Sorry.. I got a little off topic there. Bill O'Reilly pisses me off.
At ANY rate, you should write, maybe paint, take some pictures, How about some music? Try to write some poetry. Make art.. excercise your mind and soul. Make sure your heart is always open, and let life flow through it. Don't look down your nose at people. Realize that a number of circumstances has made them who they are.
Make art... and if you find you answered my question, "I don't make any art" Maybe you should take a deeper look at why that is...
