Hi SG land, @rambo @missy đ
Last night was the first night of Hanukkah. As a lot of you may know, Iâm Jewish! I grew up celebrating both Hanukkah and Christmas, so the holidays have always been a little extra busy for me. Last night I went over to my parentsâ home, cooked latkes, had a nice family dinner, and then lit the first candle.
Above is the latkes cooking, theyâre basically âJewish hashbrownsâ as my mother explained to my boyfriend!
And youâve heard of Elf on a Shelf, right? Well, I bet you havenât heard of Mensch on a Bench!
Heâs a part of a new Hanukkah tradition, and I really like him! I think itâs super cute, he comes with a great backstory that teaches kids about Hanukkah, and is a great way to get kids a little more involved! I read it to my boyfriend, since he doesnât know about Hanukkah.
Last night was the first night, and overall there are 8 total nights. We take the time to remember a dark past, and recommit ourselves to making the future brighter.
To anyone who many be Jewish, happy Hanukkah, and to everyone else happy holiday season! Letâs all commit to making our futures bright.
