It's something I think everyone should try, and you'll never guess what it is!
It requires daily work, and there will always be ups, and downs, but the more you practice, the better you feel.
By now I'm assuming that you must really be wondering what I'm talking about. Or have you guessed it already? This rad new fad in my life is simply self love and self care.
I've struggled with loving myself for as long as I can remember. I went down some hateful roads with my own body. I never realized that a few simple, kind words could go so far. Or ever smiling at yourself in the mirror.
Nothing has helped me love myself more than modeling, and the supportive network of people (other models, photographers, fans of my work) I've met through my journey. Outside support is important, but there's rally nothing more important than your inner support.
Simple acts of self care can completely change the way you feel. Treat yourself kindly. Instead of insulting yourself in situations, think of yourself as a dear friend or loved one, give yourself caring words, and support. Why get hard on yourself when you make a little mistake? You're human, and you need to treat yourself as such. Learn from your mistakes, but dont hurt yourself over them.
Accepting yourself is an everyday project, you can't give up on it.
Here's a couple self love tips for you to try:
Smile at yourself.
Say no sometimes - bounderies are a good thing.
Compliment yourself.
Do something for you; practice self care in whatever way makes the most sense to you.
There's no wrong way to love yourself, and every day it gets easier. But you have to do it every day.
It took me a long time to realize how truly miserable I was, and even longer to see it didn't have to be that way.
