Today I wanna talk about two of my favorite TV shows, both vastly different while still being strangely alike.
First, let me tell you about Wilfred (US version). Wilfred only had 4 seasons, all of which more outlandish than the last. My favorite has to be the first season. Elijah Wood's character Ryan Newman starts off the season trying to commit suicide and failing, because his sister gave him sugar pills instead of anxiety medication. During his mental break, he meets his cute neighbor's dog, Wilfred, who he hallucinates to be a man in a dog suit and they become best friends.
Sounds weird, right? Well, it is, and it's a bit of a trip sometimes, but it's an absolutely amazing show.
Above is my favorite scene. Ryan and Wilfred are staking out Ryan's sister in the car (while hotboxing the car). Ryan complains "How are we supposed to see Kristen with all this smoke?" to which Wilfred replies "Use the wipers." Ryan does so and seems disappointed with himself, while Wilfred smiles and says "Much better."
Now, my other favorite TV show! Bojack Horseman (Netflix original) is about a washed up 90's sitcom star who is continuously throwing himself a pity party about how he is no longer relevant. It follows him and his friends and their misadventures, dealing with the false lives the live in Hollywoo (yes, not Hollywood), and their general down/upfalls.
Also some of the characters are people and some are animal-humanoids.
Dogs can have an existential crisis, too.
It's not all depressing, I promise. A lot of it is uplifting, a lot just makes you think. They also have amazing background jokes on the books, shops, billboards, news casts, names, etc.. It's just an amazing show! Hilarious and dark.
So basically I'm just a fan of comedy that has a weird and sometimes dark touch.
Thanks for taking the time to read SG fam! @rambo @missy
