Its been a while since Ive updated, and I figured posting during a hurricane is a good time to do so. For the record, Hurricane Frances gets the award for Most Boring Storm in my Lifetime. Dont get me wrong, Im well aware that its quite dangerous (Ive been through several hurricanes and tropical storms before), and Im aware that a lot of people will suffer from the major damage that a storm this size will cause. Nonetheless, I (and most likely much of the state, esp those in shelters on the east coast) wish that this thing would just do its thing and get it over with. Many people around the state have been either getting prepped or hunkering down since yesterday, and the forecasters are saying that it will be midnight tonight (about 14 hours from now) before the hurricane passes and heads up the panhandle. Bleh.
In other news, work is going well. I work with a cadr of highly skilled, and generally nutty people. Its a Good Thing. Ive been working hard, and putting in longer hours on a relatively frequent basis (including one 12 hour shift. I am hardcore.) Even though Im putting in the hours like that, and despite the commute (which will improve when I get my own apt), I enjoy this job. I come home at the end of the day feeling either like a total badass thats saved the world, or like Ive gotten some work done and Ive done an honest days work. This too, is a Good Thing.
