This guy? This guy right here? You know, thiiiiissss guy?
He found an apartment. A pretty decent loft, he'd say. He's excited about it, spent the day yesterday wandering around and finding/buying furniture for it, since he discovered he doesn't own much at his current place beyond a coffee table and everything in his bedroom, and he may even need to replace a fair bit of that, too, due to excellerated age/damage or just being oversized to the max.
He's also getting his wicked-cool Heroes poster framed, because he's always wanted to do it and finally got around to it.
At least the previous tennants left a nice desk behind, one less thing I have to spend monies on.
I've been stopping in almost every day this week to map out the rooms and take increasingly more accurate measurements of every nook and cranny to make fucking certain things will fit. I started to lose my mind a little bit from all the post-its I sketched with on top of the maps at work, trying to come up with places and ways to put things that are functional and not at all crampt.
I'm glad that I have space to finally get myself a drafting table. I've been wanting one for almost all my life ... I'm done drawing on a flat desk or struggling to make space against my computer. I havn't drawn, really drawn anything in a year. A few scribbles here and there and the odd bit of sudden inspiration that was quelled by spacial limitations and distractions. I've always liked to draw and often felt a true sense of accomplishment after penciling something and taking a step back and realizing the last two, three hours went into creating something I'm proud of. I think/feel/hope that this soon-to-be-mine drafting table will not be the reason, but the inspiration behind a constant stream of work, for friends or for the hell of it, not just to add some more junk to my DA site.
All I need now is a decent scanner and some skillz at colouring digitally. I find that I over-work the pencils too often and any colouring I do winds up actually lessening anything I do. Seriously, I'm better in b&w!
I'm glad, too, that I'll get some actual use out of my turntable. I havn't played a record in far, far too long. I used to revel in my small, eclectic and (personally speaking) great collection of new and old, soundtracks and random, "ohh, this cover looks neat" purchases. Also mentioning it to co-workers who are just flabbergasted (I have a new favourite word) that there is such a thing as "new vinyl" and trying to convince them that I have the vinyl pressing of an album that was released last week. No, it wasn't a "best of" album of a band from the 80's or earlier. No ... no. This band formed, like, five years ago. This is an abridged version of a converastion I had.
That's about all I can process into words right now. I should post blogs more often. I've been thinking of starting up an attempt at vlogs because I can do it. I have technology, and can make it awesome. I know what you're thinking: sound effects? Totally.
