When I was initiated as witch i was given the name Daphnee, then five years later I became high priestess...
So here is some information on where my magickal name comes from :
The piece of limestone in the form of a shell represents the legend of Daphne in the very simple but
expressive way of local popular art. Coptic artist often illustrated Greek legends on stone.
Coptic - name of Egyptians of the Christian faith (turned). Name for the last form of Egyptian language.
Daphne:
Daughter of the river Penee. Goddess Daphne depicted in Greek mythology as a beautiful girl. The
God Apollo fell in love with her. When Daphne refused Apollos love, her father turned her into a
bay tree.
WhenGod Apollo found her, he collected her leaves and made a diadem out of them. He gave the
diadem to the victorious.
Diadem - a crown worn as a sign of royalty.
The word Daphne means dew, which is chased by the sun and its heat, symbolizing the God Apollo.
Bay leaves always symbolize Daphne. Bay leaves were used in Coptic floral decorations. The
Coptic artists used them in his art and embodied them on stone.
Daphne is portrayed with laurel leaves coming from her body........
(Laurel leaves are amoungst the evergreen trees in Southern Europe which produce green yellowish flowers, and blackberries. They are aromatic leaves . A.K.A... the Bay Tree...)
