Hello all,
So yes, this is me blogging and sorting out my profile. A bit. I'm uploading a few pics that I deleted before, plus a few more. All good there then. Time for a catch up, because I don't do that enough.
It's hot. The current temperature down my way is 23 degrees Celsius, or 73 degrees in old money for you American types. This is hot for us English types. As I explained to one of my favourite Americans just the other day, when informed that this sort of temperature wasn't hot, it's a scientifically established fact that white Englishmen cease to function at 79 degrees. At 85, we melt into a pool of aspic jelly.
The last time we had a hot spell, I was in London with one of my best friends, a Zimbabwean who lived in Arizona for nearly a decade, and her Australian girlfriend. When I said it was too hot, they laughed at me.
This weekend just gone was full of weddings. Most people had there's on Saturday, but I went to one on Sunday. Sunday was my sister's boyfriend's birthday, so Saturday was spent with them, plus my brother and my sister's boyfriend's sister (keep up). Or, Bec, Jim, Joe and Louise. Or, Knicks, Jimlim, Joebles and Swez. We had Ethiopian for lunch, in a place in Reading called Tutu's. Absolutely delicious stuff. I had doro wot with numerous sides, and also tried the zelzel tibs, which is especially amazing. And Tusker beer!

Tusker is amazing beer. We drank it in Tanzania, and I haven't had since then, about seven years ago. So this was a big nostalgic treat.
But Sunday now, Sunday was a wedding day. My friend Tracey from college, marrying her longtime beau Chris. I got to meet their little boy Isaac for the first time, and catch up with lots of old friends who I hadn't seen for ages. Wonderful day, even if it was stupidly hot. I went to a wedding and didn't wear a jacket - that's how hot it was. Thankfully, I made up for it with a shiny-buttoned waistcoat and a particularly amazing pair of shoes. I have no wedding photos to share just now, but here are the shoes:

The shoes received many compliments. I even had a little dancey, mostly with small children. We swapped some moves. It was a good day. The reception was held in an old public school house, which was terribly posh, and had a garden upstairs. There were, however, some very odd trophies on display.

I'm not entirely convinced those are real, unless someone's been hunting at the Zooniverse from 'The Mighty Boosh.'
What else? I've been on a serious nostalgia kick, watching old weird TV shows from my childhood. any other Brits of my advanced age remember 'Mike and Angelo' or 'Watt on Earth?' Or strange Australian imports like 'Round the Twist' and 'The Girl from Tomorrow?' Some of it is better than I expected, some of it... not so great. But nostalgic, all the same. Plus lots of 'Quatermass' and Sly McCoy 'Doctor Who.' Two weeks off work means lots of old telly and even some writing. Been blogging on my outside world blog, plus getting a bit of fiction done. Still plenty of things to be getting on with, though.
Oh, and I got some cool stuff through the post from Papyrusaurus, who is also known as Iso, or the Pterodactyl Air Commodore (pterodactyls use RAF ranks, naturally).

This actually arrived a little while ago, but I forgot to post about it. How cool is that? Everyone should buy stuff from Papyrusaurus. Spend all your money.
And no, I'm not pulling a silly face. That's just my face.
I need a haircut.

Ever felt like this?
Have strange things happened?
Are you going round the twist?
We were talking about 'Round the Twist at work just this afternoon! And singing the theme song!
I didn't realise it at the time but Alana from The Girl From Tomorrow was my first ever girl crush. I had this realisation while reminiscing about kids shows with my flatmates one night in second year drama school. My flatmates hadn't heard of the show so I googled it for some pictures and realised the actor who played Alana was in my year in the acting course. It was rather strange.
Also 23 degrees is hardly warm! Try 40!
