I have finally returned home to stable, non-filtered, internet usage and, as a result, I am back on the site! I am so happy to be back from Alaska for the summer, teaching in the villages was a good experience but, if nothing else, I've learned that I am a product of my own culture and that I truly feel best in the Upper Midwest.
On the sadder side of things, looking at my friends list, I see a lot of grey there. It seems that a lot of people I knew have fled the site over the past few months.
On the even sadder (for me) side, I'm currently sitting at this computer with my teeth all numbed up after a root canal. I'm 24 years old; you would think that I'd to young for this sort of thing! Gah, this sucks in so many different ways.
Next Tuesday I start a summer class at UWSP in Stevens Point. The class is on Native Americans in Wisconsin and should be very interesting. I'd be lying if I didn't point out that my true real reason for checking out the class is to be a college student again, even for jsut a few months. I'm hoping to maybe meet some people and get some sort of social life going this summer. I miss hanging out with people who see eye to eye with me (The Yupik people are great, as are the teachers in my village, but I always feel like the odd one out). Also, who knows, maybe I'll even meet a special lady this summer; I've been suffering from a dry spell ever since I left Marquette and that has been WAY to long.
Anyway, I should get going. Catch you all later (if anyone reads this, that is) and I hope that you've all been doing well.
