I had $1475 stolen from my checking account recently. I am in shock. Quick backstory: I am stationed overseas so snail-mail takes twice as long to get delivered. Well, when I checked my mail yesterday I had an overdraft notice from my bank back home. I was expecting a charge or two due to changes in my pay, and whatnot, but what I read was a shocker. I saw a non-check debit of $1475 posted on November 12th. I then sped home to call my bank to question the charge. Once I got through, the customer service agent told me that the charge was to Air Asia and the purchase was made in Sengalor, Malaysia. 'Seriously? Thanks, you thieving fuckers for totally fucking me,' was running through my head. I have since cancelled my check card, transferred some $$ around and am disputing the charges. Hopefully, I'll get my money back. Either way, it's a waiting game and I'm screwed until I get paid in a few days.

Who do you bank with? I've got a Military account with Bank of America, and I opened a local savings account here in Tokyo to squirrel away my COLA for a rainy day.
I hope you get all your cash back, and soon! It sucks that it had to happen so close to Christmas.
