I walked down to the Perth esplanade to watch the fireworks and spent the entire walk back debating whether I was proud to be an Australian after witnessing the sheer drunken stupidity that was the crowd down there. The conclusion was that all Australia Day inspires in me is scorn and embarrassment but generally I'm proud to be an Aussie.
