All the drama relating to the Girls Only group of late has reminded me of a similar situation at my university. The Students' Association here runs a Women's Room as a comfortable space for women to relax. And once a year someone kicks up a fuss about it in the student paper. Always a guy.
Then there's endless debate about it in the letters pages. The same happened this year (and every other year) with the association's Women's Rights Officers (WROs). There was a "do we need them?" debate, and a "why no men's rights officer?" kerfuffle, and so on. Me, I think the WROs do a great job, and feel no need to be represented as a man, by a man.
As for the women's room - good for them. I myself am happy chilling out at the campus bar, but if girls wanna go somewhere for some girl time, McSweet.
So, yeah, the Girls Group debate is old hat for me.
Go girls. Oh, and I'm brutally sober now.
Edited to fix 1 spelling mistake. I am so bad ass!
