**** Edit: Went to the doc to have my burn checked out. Yeah, turns out it is a full on 3rd degree number: thats charred skin, not a scab. Will leave one motherfuck of a scar too. Fantastic. ****
Hello. Bout time for an update, no?
I fucking hate training. Endless days of the same shit over and over again. Yah yah, its important and all, but man its grinding. I haven't had a day off since we left in Aug. We rehearse, drill, and rehearse some more for drills most of us know how to do blindfolded. Some instructor who thinks he is a god of war...... there's realistic training, and then there is check the box training.........
'Pretend your in country, pretend they are shooting at you.'
Well I have been in country, and you generally make the right decisions a little snappier, with a little more motivation when they actually are shooting at you. Plus I am getting trained by people who haven't seen the business end of a bad day in long fucking time. Oh well, oh poor me right? Blowing up that door a couple weeks ago was a lot of fun though.
I also burned myself, right on the arm. The arm? What arm? The left arm, the arm with the tattoo! The tattoo of stained glass, on the left arm with the burn. Thats not going to look right ever again. Damn.
Oh but the end of the month is near!! When I get a 4 day pass and go into San Antonio. 5 days, 4 nights at the Hotel Contessa, right on the Paseo del Rio, with a bottle of Patron, a couple Cuesta Rey's, and nothing to do. The Alamo. The River Walk. Texas women, Latina women, and my white Irish ass. It will be a good time.

Umm...yeah, it's been about 10 years since I gave it up. Let me just say that it's a little unsettling to emerge from a blackout and find yourself in a sugarcane field on Maui, especially when you started drinking on Oahu.

Yeah I visited there once.... once.
