A conversation with my 13 year old daughter tonight...
Her: "Lady Gaga has no boobs. They're little."
Me: "There's nothing wrong with that. Yours are little."
Her: "Yeah, right now. But they're sprouting."
Me: "Why? Are you giving them lots of sunshine and water?"
Her: "Yeah. Today I did."
(I forgot that she went swimming this afternoon).

just adding a note of condolence and acknowledgment. as a counselor of MANY years, and having had a bipolar MIL, I'm more acquainted with those Beasts you mention, and with suicide than I would care to have been. I have to say that one thing I've learned is that there is fuck-all anyone can to to really prevent it. it is the single act of pure free will and takes so very little time to accomplish that no one can be fully protected from themselves. I imagine you know this, but I'm saying it anyway. you-all did protect and help her for some decades, decades that her children and you might very well not have had with or near her save for your own efforts and her courage. let those who have been mauled by those beasts pass judgment on her courage; for the rest, perhaps it was the best she could manage at the time...
one does feel so fucking helpless...and that feeling tends to remain; it is our challenge (or has been mine) to remember the person at their brightest, and not at their weakest or most confused..
