I watched a wonderful documentary last night called "Video Nasties: Moral Panic, Censorship and Video Tape". It illustrated the British reaction to the early 80's boom of video tapes and the resulting popularity of shock horror films. It's part cautionary tale on the risk of losing civil liberties due to moral panic, and part love letter to the wonderful medium of VHS tape (and independent video stores). Recommended viewing.
