"Even a happy life cannot be without a measure of darkness, and the word happy would lose its meaning if it were not balanced by sadness."
I love Carl Jung, I wish I could of been alive while he was so I could of studied under him. This man was brilliant but judged by many as a mystic because he liked to take all things into consideration when it came to the psychology of the human condition. He brought things like quantum physics and easter philosophy together and let them live happily together. It bothers me that empirical validity is the only way to give something true merit. What is fact though? I mean can we truly prove anything? Really think about that, isn't every thing we "know" based on our own experiences, we only trust our own senses to tell us what is and what isn't. How do you describe color to a bling person or music to the deaf? I feel that these differences are what make two different religious sects kill one another. Aren't they all attempting to achieve the same thing? Don't we all have the same goals and fears? Then why do we waste so much time on arguing over what flavor is better? Then again maybe that's the point. That darkness is what makes the light so beautiful. These veils of ignorance or intolerance that we create are there so we don't become numb to the beauty of life and existence itself.
Or maybe I'm full of shit.
On a lighter note, I'll be going to northern Iraq for the next couple of weeks, super pumped, glad to get out of this garrison hell hole. I look forward to returning and posting on random threads when I get back!
