Went dancing late last night with amy at Neo and SmartBar. An interesting experince for sure...

I have to say that Neo really grows on you.
I like that place more and more over time. I havent been there in a while, and i always liked the atmosphere, all the not-so-pretentious peoples.

I used to think the most pretentious scenesters head out to Neo, but now I think differently... But that raises the question, what is a scenester...?
Well, in my view, if you walk into a club, and everyone stares at you, and then whispers to their freinds something about you (like they are labelling you for a joke) then your in a room with scenesters.

Also, they are all about super fashion, fashion to show how hardcore they are. like what we ran into at SmartBar.

The more extreme you look, the more your accepted. The less extreme, the more likely you are to get bad energy. Very unwelcoming in my opinion, and shortsighted.

I hate fashion used in that way.

Fashion to me is an expression, not a definition.

So, Neo had the fashion, but it was all fun and nonjudgemental. Everyone stayed to themselves, but were all equals on the dancefloor. Really Great time!

Now Smart Bar... Smart Bar was kindof lame. We ran into some freinds which was really cool, but I felt like i was in some bad movie, like Blade or Queen of the Damned. Everyone doing the gothy, makeupy, S&M look over-the-top. walking around looking at each other. Felt kindof Like there was some kindof competition we walking into.

Now, I love people getiing all dressed up, but it was just uncomfotable. Amy and I were getting bad vibes from people, like we just didnt want to be there anymore. so we left.

Neo was great though. I want to go back to Neo on one of these Britpop nights. That sounds like a good time.

all the kids are into 80's outfits now. Like the legwarmers, and pink skirts...
Fashion is funny like that.
