This weeks topic is tell your spookiest trick or treat story but I don't really have a spooky trick or treating story so here is something different!
The Other: Jane.
Halloween night and Jane is excited to go to the Neighborhood Halloween party at the park down the street. She plans on drinking so walking there looks the most attractive. Already laughing about what the walk home will be like, a small giggle leaves her throat. Seconds after, the thought of not making it home seeps in to her mind.
Last Halloween was a bust for Jane so she made sure to dress up this year. After all, there is a Best costume contest at this party! Jane knew she wasn't going to win going as Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas but she still wanted to participate, even without her Jack Skellington, so she started getting ready! Ate a good meal so she doesn't get too messed up too fast, having a bad record when it comes to Halloween and drinking too fast is something to not have a reputation for. Starting the shower, Jane noticed something was off. The way the shower head hiccuped, it had never done that before. Not thinking much of it she continued to get in the shower. After wetting her face and hair, stroking the water off her face and over her hair, the water felt soft and thicker than usual. Opening her eyes was a surprise, for a split second she saw red.
"whhha!" Jane gasps.
She blinks and it's gone in an instant! Gathering herself, she finishes her shower. She wipes the fog off the mirror and notices her clothes behind her have been moved. They weren't in the bathroom at all.
"Hello?" Said Jane, shakily.
There was no answer but a swift creak from directly above her, she had no second story. She whipped her head upwards and choked at what she saw. Staring straight down at Jane, was Jane. There wasn't a sound Jane knew how to make to express the level of fear she felt. There was nothing "Jane" about this Jane besides what her face looked like. Being so frozen in fear she almost hadn't noticed the other was wearing her clothes! They didn't fit very well. The other Jane had a body like a old man who had never ate a day in his life. Jane inhaled to say something but before she could finish her breath, the other had stretched its mouth over her mouth and nose and started sucking the air from her lungs. She fought for her life but her efforts were nothing compared to the strength of the other. Her body flailed vigorously but her head remains still. The longer it's attached to her the more Jane it became. Tears started billowing out of her eyes as they roll into the back of her head. The clothes started to fit better, hair started growing from its Gollum like head and it started descending from the ceiling as if it had tentacles made from smoke and human flesh. Landing on its new Jane feet as the transformation is almost complete, a knock at the door. The other detaches from Jane, looking more like Jane than the other it answers the door. It's the neighbors.
"Hey Jane..."
Before they could finish their greeting, it slammed the door in their face. They were a bit shaken up by that so they knocked again. Immediately the other opened the door, screeched at them and slammed it again. Afraid for their lives because they have never seen anything like that before, they rushed home to call the police. When the police showed up it appeared the other had never been there. Jane was dead in the bathtub.
She was preparing for the walk home, little did she know she would never make it out of the house.
I'm pretty sure I just used Halloween as an excuse to write a murder story.
Thank you for reading my not so spooky trick or treating story that turned into a murder story lol
