Wow, what a day today! It was great! I met one of the members (who shall remain anonymous, unless she wants me to metion her). Here's how it went.
We talked last night about meeting at 11:00 at a Fred Meyer's here in Vancouver. I was like ok, cool, works for me, since I get up around that time, and it's only a 5 to 10 minute walk from my house. I get up, and am looking for a certain shirt I told her I was going to wear, and I couldn't find it, so I go with my standby, "Motorhead."
I walk down to the Fred Meyer's, and do not see her, so I walk inside, buy a bottle of water, then return outside. As I look around, I see her. We greeted each other, and talked for a bit, kind of getting to know each other. I will admit, I was damn nervous about meeting her.
We went down to 4th Plain, and parked her car at a Hi-School Pharmacy. We go inside to get me a drink (I drank the water in record time for me). We go to a place, across the street, called the "Urban Ecentric." The Urban Ecentric is a vintage clothing and jewelry store, which also is a little coffee shop. We look around for a while, and saw things we liked, but did not buy anything.
After we left there, we walked across the busy Main Street in Vancouver to Recycled Sounds. The owner's brother (aka the former owner) was in Black Flag, with Henry Rollins. They have just about every thing you can think of as far as music, from punk, REAL metal, mainstream music, to local bands....as well as hair colors, and guitars...I find an import Metallica CD and bought it (For every Metallica fan, this one's a KEEPER...if has the entire "No Life Till Leather DEMO from 1981!!!).
We left the music store, and found a place called "A Gentle Strength," and we both were in heaven. Unfortunately for the store, they are going out of business, but fortunately for us, EVERYTHING was 70% off. We spent a good deal of time looking before she found some items that she wanted to purchase (which she did). I found myself some items (a deck of Tarot cards called "Tarot of Baseball", a stone pouch, a Bloodstone, Clear Quartz, Citrine, Honey Calcite, Sunstone A, Snow Flake Obsidian, and Obsidian, as well as a Western Zodiac card for her, and a Egyptologist Zodiac Card of Anubis for me, not bad for $8.38).
After we left, both happy with our purchases (we will be going back there again before the 22nd, when they close for good), we go to a Safeway to get something to eat. We both get a salad, but I opt to buy Low Fat Itallian. The checker and I talked for a bit about the difference between his store and mine, and that was that.
Once we both got outside (her and I), we said our goodbyes, and went our ways. I did have a lot of fun today, and I hope that she did too.
