Saturday was the memorial service for my friend Randy. It waS very hard to not see him there at his house when I got there.
They had the memorial service in his neighborhood. The whole place was filled with hot rods, custom cars, Harley's, and other motorcycles. My bro Dave had a song played that we dedicated to Randy. His hot rod had flowers on the top of it.
Everyone there (about 400 people were in attendence) were still in shock that he was no longer with us. I am sure, he was looking down upon his, smiling, knowing what effort his family put into this service for him.
Later on, we had a special contest, that I know he would've loved to know we had for him, in his memory. A burn out contest with hot rods. So much smoke, squeeling of tires, and burn marks on the road, that the cops were called, and almost ticketed ALL of us for reckless driving (and I don't even DRIVE!)
I am glad I went to say my goodbye to Randy. I told April (Dave's girlfriend, my adopted "sister" and Randy's younger Daughter) that if she keeps his memory in her heart forever, then he will always be there....and also how proud he is of her.

Sounds like a great and fitting memorial service. Your words to April are right on - even though someone is no longer physically with us, they are with us in our hearts
