My impressions of google+
Well let us imagine we are back in high school. Its summer, school is
out and there is nothing to do. Boredom has latched on like a leach
slowly bleeding the fun out of your summer. You hear a rumor about an
awesome party; just everyone is going to be there but you don't know
when or where its going down.
Your day starts to fill up with hope. The rumors grow louder; you hear
it from a friend who has a friend that knows someone going to the
party. Maybe today is the day someone will invite you to the party.
You finally get your invite OMG it's today... Everyone is already at
the party. You start walking then your steps get faster and in no time
you are running down the street full on rush.
The party is at the house at the end of the street, you can already
hear the thrum of the music. Boom Boom boom you think I know that song
from somewhere.
Your palms are slick with anticipation as you fumble at the door to
the house. The latch is stuck you have to force it a little, the door
gives way unexpectedly. You tumble through the door and crash into the
party. You made it you are here....
It takes you a moment to look around the party; you hope no one
noticed your unorthodox arrival. No one seems to have noticed they are
all too busy dancing. You start recognizing faces, Oh look it's that
person you had just been talking to on Facebook and look another
person from Facebook and another.
Hold on is that the "Macarena"? It slowly dawns on you that this
awesome party is more like a meeting of the chess or a/v club... and
as about as exclusive as shopping at Walmart.
Are all of us early adopters or just lemmings following the herd?
Google+ is a little bit of a let down in my books
