Every now and then I like to do a little recreational dreaming. I like to go to sleep with the goal of waking up and remembering. I might not remember the details but it's the emotions that I'm more interested in.
I've tried a dream journal but letters and words seem way to clumsy for dreams. It's almost as if thinking about how to describe a dream changes the dream to fit the words.
Ever watched the sun come up when you are out in the middle of nowhere?
All the colors and hues, the sounds of the birds waking up the smell of the damp earth now take all that imagery and just replace it with the single word "sunrise". That's how I feel about writing dreams down, the event is still recorded but the details just can't hold up to the original.
So all I do is try and remember how it makes me feel that's enough for me.
