you know sometimes less is worth more... I'm talking about images. Sometimes taking away some of the outer parts of an image can really accentuate the subject matter. I'll show you what I mean.
Lex666 has cute album of self portraits and I really like image #5 its a fun and playful pose but there is so much going on around the picture that Lex666 ends up competing with a faucet and a TV for your attention.
Now if we remove some of the competition by cropping the image. We get a picture where there is no doubt what the subject mater is
If you compare the two you can see that less of an image has made the subject more important.
One "final" thing I would do to the image is rotate it a little just to straighten the lines up... Although I'd probably do the rotating before the cropping that way you get to play with more of the image.
less than 5 minutes work and the image is popping. I used the GIMP to make the image changes. its free and available at gimp.org
