Everyone I know was unhurt in the quakes -- that's not to say there wasn't damage. I just got back from the Big Island, helping a friend rebuild his lo'i kalo...most of the stone terrace wals were damaged. Little harm to the kalo though -- he had used plastic tarps to keep the lo'i flooded. I'll have to remember that.
We had about 30 school children at our lo'i last month. The tours went well and I think they learned a lot. Chances are good that elementary school will be back!
