I went to see Star Wars again on Sunday. It's still good the second time around.
Some guy emailed me on MySpace saying:
"plz dontg label your self black metal that is very disrepectful to the black metal community you guys fit under nu metal though"
Hahaha. Riiight. Cause Black Metal is all about compromise and doing what other people want you to do. Hahaha. The guy was only 19, too. I'm sure this little pip-squeek is totally qualified to tell me my music isn't Black Metal. Hahaha. (Edit: I'd also like to note that, this genius said 'you guys'. I'm a solo artist. I'm the only one in this 'band'. I make that clear on my page. Good to see Mr. 'Is all and end all' did his homework before shooting his mouth off. Hahaha.)
It's funny when you think about it. One guy told me I'm unoriginal. That impies that I am derivative of other groups, or that I'm a rip off of other bands. Then this kid tells me I'm not Black Metal enough. That implies that I need to sound more like other bands. Man, these criticizing numb-skulls need to get their shit straight. Pick a side, ya know? Hahaha!
All in all, I'm just flattered that my music motivated these people to take their time and energy to comment on my music. They could have easily just ignored my work and moved on, but no, they actually had to stop and let me know how they felt. For good or bad, I got their attention, and to me, thats a very good thing.

thatguitarguy:
attention, isn't that what being an artist is all about? you know, as far as "sounding or not sounding like everyone else" you have influences, and you have your own tastes....follow your tastes, and see where your influences take you.
