Hi friends, today I want to share with you an article to the Magazine "Elipsis" of Colombia.
Here I write articles of opinion. I'll share you each work. Thanks and I hope yours comments
of this. Someone to live the same? Tell me :)

Some time ago, i was going through some pages of writer Mark Twain
and came across the following phrase: "Whenever you find yourself on
the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect"
In a modern and cybernetic world, where you can find so many options
for everything through Facebook and other social networks, we see a lot
of people, including me, trying to adopt different lifestyles.
Then you find the ones who listen to punk because we identify with their
ideologies, the vegetarians and vegans who are against animal slavery,
anarchists, feminists, homosexuals and many groups who try to be
different in a sexist, conservative, exploitative and religious society.
I´ve always tried to think outside the box, escape from everyday routine,
to know about all the different groups and adopt what I consider positive
according to my thoughts and reflections. However its been some years
since i´ve tried to do or find the difference, in what a modern society
calls “work”.
One day at the office, I paused and made some thinking. I saw then a
young 23 year old woman involved in a life where much of the lifetime
was used in working.
People who arrive to the office around 6 in the morning and go home
past 10 pm. They arrive to their homes, just to keep on working and have
work meetings on weekends and other sessions called “strategic
planning”.
Since then i´ve searched desperately, without sucess, for a way in which
my life is not completely consumed by my job.
Since we live in a capitalist world, materialistic, in which the system is
unavoidable and money is necesary, o don´t want to live like a slave, nor
have a life in which my youth and energy go away in the fullfilment of
someone else goals.
People say: “It´s better to wake up early to work, tan get a job”. ”Work is
sacred”. “You have to work hard now, to see the results later”. Phrases I
respect and share.
If work is the way to earn a living, i want a job that really gives me profit,
not only money, but in my existance.
A job that allows me to develop some of my capacities and knowledge,
but doesn´t limit the other parts of my life.
A job that also understand that i´m also a daughter, friend,
punky, writer, model, and other things, and that i need the same
commitment and time to dedícate to each one of this role. In that
context, being great part of the day, week, month, year of my life locked
inside an office or dedicated to a single work, hinders the development of my other facets.
Nowadays you can find many types of contracts and different work
methods: Privision of a service, freelance, independent, teleworking, and
other. Sincerely, the first two types of contracts do not guarantee a
economical estability. I admire the freelance way but its hard, and
independent is just a dream for many and a disrespeceted for others.
There is no regulation, at least here in Colombia, a way of steady job in
which once the objetives are fullfilled, the employee may earn the liberty
to have the time to develop other aspects of his life. If there is no
complain about my performance and the work is all done. Why can´t I
study english, do some music, research, or dedícate time to my loved
ones, in this spare time?
Institutions and companies have the employees sitting in the office all
day, looking at Facebook, doing nothing, instead of rather giving wings to
genious, artists, business men or social leaders.
If i had a job like that, i would be more grateful with the entity in which i
work and the feeling that my life is going away, sitting in the office doing
nothing, would disappear.
