I've been wanting to get some piercings for a while, and I thought that getting my nipples done would be a good place to start. I checked the groups here to get an idea as to what I would be getting myself into with the procedure, and only really managed to find out that it would either be painful, painless, or somewhere in between those two. lol Guess it is different for everyone.
A little while ago I injured (well, reinjured) my hand while I was hauling my ass up a wall at a climbing gym. Thanks to the recovery time for that, I said to myself "Self, what better time to get it done than when you are taking it easy and have less chance of things hitting you in the chestical areas?" Turns out that I agreed with me that it would be good timing, and finally decided to get it done tonight.
I checked out trusty ol' Yelp, and saw that there was a place near my work that has good reviews. After I was done for the day, I wandered down to The Ink Spot to check it out. They only do walk-ins, and I was lucky enough that there was only one person waiting ahead of me. They have a 2-for-1 special on Wednesdays, so there were enough people after I came in that they had to start turning them away. There is a decent amount of time allotted to each person to go over everything, which I appreciate (no problem waiting in the front for 1.5 hours if they do a good job).
I was brought into the back, and the guy swapped down the area and drew the target dots. I gave the thumbs up for the location, and then he asked me what side I wanted to start with. I am assuming that he was asking just in case I had a side I wanted more than the other, but ended up opting out of the second insertion with a fury of tears and regrets. He denied it, but I know the truth. I started with the left side (you know, just in case) and as the needle went in, let out a quick "Jumping Jesus" but the sensation that caused that was over quickly enough that I didn't even get to the finishing " on a pogo stick!" half. There was a bit of a pulling as the needle was replaced with the ring, but it wasn't that bad. The right side was apparently a bit tougher to get the needle through because of some harder tissue, but still not a problem. Carefully, the shirt went back on (I was smart enough to wear a snap up shirt) then the jacket (yay, winter). First challenge successfully completed without catching on anything.
Time for the second challenge: find some unscented soap and fine sea salt. With a slightly warm/tingly chest, I walked to the grocery store. Turns out that soap scented liquid soap is about as hard to find as coffee flavored coffee (though I don't think there was a maple nut crunch soap). Tucked way back on the bottom shelf I found the last bottle of what I was looking for. All set to go!
