I was gonna make a post about how much i fucking love to drink and why i drink. But I'll save it for now. Deckwreck wrote about fashion punks and how its not england and its not the 70s anymore. This got me thinking.
They way i dress. Usually jeans, tshirt, my studded patched up vest, and combat boots.
My dress coincides with a. what i like to wear and b. the kinda music i listen to (oi street uk82 and 77 among others). Whats wrong with someone painting/studding, ripping, bleaching their clothes to their likes?
Well no its not 1982, but who gives a fuck? I can't think of many styles of music that more or less holds the same ideal 40+ years later. Or that has changed so little. Blah blah punk is stagnent. No, not really. Punk is just raw and sloppy for the most part (well the best of it is).
I don't purposely rip my clothes. I'm too poor for that. But i wear em till they are way too fucked to wear. They are usuallys stained, wore out, ripped, thin and other shit like that. I wear combat boots. Go to one hardcore/street punk show without steel toes and youll know why (plus it looks good). My vest is studded and patched. Why? because it looks badass. Why don't i replace the missing/ripped patches? because i remember how it got that way, and it looks badass.
To all the people that do it to be different i say fuck you. You CANNOT be different dressing in a fashion of 20 years ago. You can put your own touches on it, but it still isnt 'your' style. If you do it because it looks good, because of tradition, because it's your culture great. I agree in all of that.
What I hate is people who are overnight. over the weekend, cockhawk sporting punks. The ones where everything has to be places just...so. The ones who think that since they have a leather they are king shit. also fuck the people who dance just to cause pain.
and everyone knows that i think deckwreck is fuckin cool. Shit i dunno what he was talking about really. But he got me to think! and for that i thank him.

him: i think they suck. im more into real punk.
us: oh, like what?
him: like the exploited.
us: we used to like the exploited, and they are pretty cool, but one day we realized that they were singing about problems in england 20 years ago, and that really isnt relevant to us now, the direct message is lost. these guys talk about issues that concern us now, etc.
him: blah blah anarchy in the uk blah blah.
the kid then booed against me, etc. and he was wearing that hot topic dead kennedys shirt.
thats what i meant, the people that use punk as fashion, and have no idea of the message or the values of the community. i mean, i can respect it even if you just dig the music and not the message, but still, when you go to the scene, obey its rules. i was dancing and got knocked over in a push pit (!!!!) and no one helped me up for gods sake.
so yeah.. thats about it. i'm a new schooler to the core (behold my black plugs, tight t shirt, tight jeans, and fashionable shoes!!! and i had dyed black hair for about 2 years too) but its just cuz thats what i like to wear, and im sure whenever a crust kid ses me there are like "poseur!" or something. i guess what i really mean is that it doesnt matter what you wear as long as you act like a part of the community, which the people im talking about dont.
yeah!
Anyways i got kinda off subject, the band i'm hoping can be like street punk/77 style, but just a touch of pop, blended in you knowJust enough pop to be able to understand the words, but not like the disstillers, kinda like Raooul
