Good god!!! What a full weekend this has turned out to be already. Damn!!
Good times though....& yet insightful
Rise n shine for a little morning dip in the ocean for some wave riding. Met some great folks down at Rockaway beach for some coffee and long boarding. Came back into the city and did some thrifting and shopping in my favorite part of SF known as the Richmond District. Not the most trendy area, but home to one of my favorite bookstores of all time, Greem Apple Books,I could get lost in there for hours and not no what time of day it is. I took Sophie's advice and picked up What Happy People Know, because god only knows I need a little outside advice every once in awhile....thanks Soph. Plus I bought the Terryworld book of the outrageous fashion photographer Terry Richardson. What a raunchy fun book that is. I was cracking up on every page. The mans' a riot.
On a somber note though as I was checking out....I looked up and notice the store was still selling shirts and bags that an ol' surfing buddy of mine had designed a few years back. The sad part is, my friend lost his life to drugs not long after that. It took me back a little, considering I was the last one to talk to him on the phone before he OD'd. He was an amazing person with so much to give, yet fought this terrible demon that only few knew about. My heart sunk to an all time low just then.
So ya know what I did.....well I'll tell ya!
I ran over to the garden center a few blocks down and bought the most resilient beautiful flowering plant I could find. Took it home and planted on my back porch and named it Eric; that was his name by the way. So everytime I wake up in the morning and have my morin' coffee on the back porch, I can remember what a good friend he was, and the good rides we had out there in the rolling tides of mother earth.
Somewhere out there his board still floats amoungst the sunsets and blue skies; attatched to it the letters and photos of a true great individual he was.
. I miss you my friend.................
Whoops.....sorry to end on a sentimental note, but all of sudden that's where it led me.
I'm not sad, just glad to be alive, every moment of the day. .........and you should to.
........Sunday Update...........
2nd day of good surf. The beach was packed!!!
Then we headed over to the Alemeda flea market for some good thrifting and people watching; not to mention one of the best views of San Francisco.
Good times.

It was supposed to storm, but it didn't until the day I came home. Everyone's been saying it's been the best weather for Jazz Fest ever. I am hooked. I will be back next year.
Never made it to a vampire club, but I did make it to the St. Louis Cemetery #1.
