It's the holidays! YAY!
I kind of want to talk about the whole Connecticut event, but at the same time I don't. You have many people yelling at each other's respective sides about what the issue is, and many people going off the deep end about it.
People have made Piers Morgan image macros, and use them to fuel the fire.
And that's where I want to leave it. Are you getting this? People are trying to use image macros to show political viewpoints, and want them to be taken seriously while cleverly playing it off as a joke. That's just one example of course.
Also, I don't think it's a faith or gun control issue. I think it's an American culture thing.
In short, I can never express enough grief towards the event, and am saddened by the increase of tribal mentality in the U.S.
Really quick note: Image macros aren't funny to me anymore. Not because of this Piers Morgan thing, but really because they're not funny. Also, they're not memes. Meme's are more of an inside joke. These image macros that people post all over the place are nothing more than an attempt at a cheap laugh that is often forgotten about 5 seconds after viewing.
Meme and Image Macro
Just Image Macro
Another Image Macro
Do you see the difference? The first one needs context to understand why it's funny in the first place (which you can get if you search the internet of course), but the next two just feel like statements put on an image.
SHOUT OUT TO MINDI! She had her Naughty Kitten set on the front page and I think everyone should still check it.
Man, I'm hungry. I'mma get food.

also, memes are not actually all that funny sometimes. Kill Roy (one of the original pre internet memes) was not funny so much as unexpected.
Political memes are a great way to convey a quick political stab. sort of taking over from caricature sketches. Some of them are quiet witty.
The more mainstream memes are supposed to be instant humour which everyone will get.
Think of them as comedians. You get different types and some go for the witty comment that a few will get and others go for the slapstick stuff that everyone gets.
One a different note, did you notice the groups merged? Are you going to help me breathe some life into the martial arts group?
People will go to meme generator which will allow the person to put on text on an image and create an Image Macro. But that doesn't make it a meme. Look at the Captain Picard macro I posted. It's an seriously just a string of text someone thought would be funny. I mean I get what you're saying, not all memes are mean't to be funny (also, I forgot about the Kilroy instance. HISTORYWIN) but what I was talking about were the instances when memes are mean't to be funny. The attempt at making a 'meme' everyday by visiting a generator and putting an edgy comment on it results in Family Guy humor (which is to say very cheap).
I DIDN'T NOTICE! I haven't been on much due to a bunch of stuff. I'mma check it out.
