see there's always a reason to get up in the morning. i was dreaming about someone keeping me warm all through the cold rainy nite, and she did smile

then i wake up this morning, wrapped around her. i curse all the gods for having to get up and out of bed ( thats a really hard thing to do when she's wrapped around you). but...

Well . . . Here is the stari catch-up with my peeps post.

Firstly, thank you, thank you, thank you for the uplift smiles and kind comments while I was stuck in the shallows of gloom. Depression has been diagonosed for three generations of stari's family (with me being #3). It usually affects me the worst in mid-winter, when it is so dark and there hasn't really been sun for days. I'm using my online journal to track my emotions more closely, so I can learn to deal with this better though lifestyle and diet changes. The sadness almost destroyed my life over the last year, but things are getting better everyday as I learn more and more about depression and ways to strenghten oneself against it.

Anyway . . . blah blah blah. Just really wanted to say, Thanks for all the love. It means more than I can properly express. *glows for you* I especially enjoyed the "the kisses of the stars rain hard upon your body" -liber al quote. Pray tell, where do such lovely words originate?

As to your question about work, tis nothing exciting. Just general admin stuff for a technology focused graduate school.

I want to talk more about the tree of life. I will return after I have had a chance to explore the web link throughly.

PS~ Isn't love wonderful?! Have you told your lady how she makes you feel with the sun lit warmth and all the lovely poetic imagery? I'm sure she would swoon for such amazing wordplay.

Sitting in front of the computer, drinking coffee, a freezing rain welding onto the windows of my apartment, cnn on in the background, waiting to get the results from today's primaries. Working on a new short piece "snowfall". I have to admit, I'm happy; minus the winter weather, this is one of the ways i picture teh good life.

Isn't it funny how people exert so much effort into trying to find happiness, when so often it's already around them, they just haven't noticed? I completely know what you mean.

As for your comments, I would love any help you could offer for my writing. Especially in light of some recent developments. biggrin

And as for SGNY - I could totally vouch for you. The best way to get in is to come to the now weekly "slobberknocking" event. Waxangel bartends at a place called Ace just below Tompkin's square park, and SGNY congregates there on Saturdays from ~4pm until... whenever. Maybe 10pm. It's open to the public and a fun, relaxed way to meet a lot of the more active members of the group. And it's a ton of fun.

i lectured five straight classes today. by the end of the last class my voice was as harsh and scratchy as a rock and roller after 30 years of smoking camels and drinking wild turkey.

i'm posting a short note now, probably write more on it later, but i think we've begun to see the end of the W. regime (unless rove and cheney have...

i don't eat a whole lot, but i am sitting here with an open bag of tortilla chips and guacamole, and i am chowing down.

and i'm going to DVR the superbowl, so that we can sit with our friends and fast forward through the football part, and just watch the commercials.

Sometimes there's nothing more enjoyable than celebrating the fact that we are all, indeed, animals at some level. Hope you had a good time.

Since I've submitted my second round of pieces I'm starting to understand what you mean about taking on a "role" when writing. Like I said in my journal entry, I have to find a way to combine my own style with the format that I'm going to be limited to. It will take some time, I think, but practice makes perfect.

By the way, do you ever get into New York city? If you get a chance, you should come to the SGNY events we that we have, they're great fun and you'll get to meet some really cool people from the site.

Question: How can I ensure purity?

A: Holding together/Union Hex 8 PI

All the waters of the earth flow together when they can, thus there must be a strong force will at the center.
"posses sublimity, constancy, and preserverance/then there is no blame"
Relationships, like the wters in the oceans, are formed and established by definate inner laws. Common experiences strengthen those ties. He who...

That's so true. I always ask that of friends I know who make up stories about themselves when they're trying to meet women - "What will you do if you end up really liking her and actually wanting a relationship? How do you then justify the fact that the first things you said to her were lies?" Of course the response I usually get is "It hasn't happened yet so I'm not that worried." Not surprising. I think that's one of those life lessons no one can teach you, you have to learn it for yourself.

Thanks for the encouragement to apply for blog editor. Looks like they liked what I sent in. biggrin

Sorry I've been slow on the updates this week. The first few weeks of a new semester always throw my life into chaos. On top of that, I've had a few projects near completion, and by the time I worked through them, it was already late at night, and all I could think of was laying in a warm room with a beer, or a...

ok its 10 pm sunday; i've spent the entire day prepping my classes for the week, and revising my manuscript to take in the comments of one of my editors. he was very positive about the content, but made tons of stylistic suggestion. so i've spent the day moving commas, footnotes, quotations, space here, hyphen there aghhhh the glamorous life of a writer.

but no...

Thank you so much for the words of kindness and wisdom left for stari eyes, so very blue. You are wonderful. I hope to be rising again soon, and your positive energy is much appreciated.

I'm so delighted to hear of your spontaneous chance for romance. M sounds like a perfect compliment to you. My warmest wishes that it may continue and grow deeper and true.

*tiny hugs of gratitude*

amazing.
love is truly one of the most amazing things on the planet. i think. attraction, lust, like, desire, and other such words thrown in there as well ... when you can't control yourself due to your feelings towards another person.

it was an echocardiogram, so there was an ultrasound of my heart, and it was probably the most humbling experience of my life, to see this thing, in black and white, the one thing keeping me breathing, thinking, and typing this.

Hmmmm its Saturday night, and I haven't done any writing over the past two days, but I guess that's ok. Reading alot however. Some great journals on here smile, promethea by alan moore (yes its a comic, but come on, alan moore is a writer of the highest quality), and The Trial, by Kafka.

Going out to dinner with M in an hour or so,...

Thank you so much for the HST link - I love his writing, he's one of the few authors I know who can simultaneously be brilliant and hilarious.

I loved The Trial, but like all Kafka, it makes one even more depressed when one looks around and sees that the dehumanizing bureaucratic nightmare Kafka envisioned has, in many ways, become our reality.

I hope your date with M. went well. biggrin

I really don't know what to say except that I'm feeling kind of lucky. "Fate can make a mockery of a man's life" the romans used to say, but that can mean something positive as well. I've recently met the most incredible woman; I hadn't been looking for anything serious in relationships and then totally radomly I met M. We've only been hanging out a...

Hey congratulations on meeting M.! That's great. I'm in a similar situation right now with K. biggrin It's funny, feeling like you're in high school again, thinking about her all the time. It's a nice reminder that you're alive.

Glad you enjoy my writing. I have sick and twisted fantasy of one day being able to write (good) fiction. We'll see if anything ever comes out of it, the problem is that I have basically no training or background in it, since I've taken almost exclusively math and science courses since my senior year in high school.

Its easy to waste a lifetime just looking and waiting A.C.

Im living in the imagination more and more everyday. Things are sparking me to see through them again, to record them, to describe what they are and could be. For years I thought I had lost the creative from my life, even academic prose seemed unbearable to write. But its returned to me again,...

I totally agree - the journal aspect of SG is my favorite part as well, it's great to come home and see comments from people, and they tend to be fairly positive, cool people (unlike sites like livejournal, that seem to attract bitter trolls.)

As for life choices... I'm a firm adherent to the philosophy that I'd rather regret some of the things that I've done than the things I haven't done. Choices can be tough but that's what makes life interesting and worth living.

To refuse to fulfill any of ones possibilities is a direct negation of the great work A.C.

Today was a day of new beginnings. All of the ordeals necessary to make the new possible, the sacrifices, the loss needed to make the new materialize, to open a path, were present. The past was literally burned off my body, my privacy exposed on a table, objectified...

What's your book about? Knowing how difficult it is to get articles published, I can only imagine what it's like for an entire book. So true about politics in publication...

I liked your John Kerry commentary. Maybe I'll check out his website, I don't have a really good feel for his positions on a lot of issues.
