I think I mentioned back in January that my desktop computer was screwed up. I finally took the computer tower to Best Buy. I explained what happened to the geek squad guy. Basically, all I wanted to know is if the hard drive was bad or not & if any of my information was retrievable. He opened it up & took out the hard drive, hooked it up & it wasn't even spinning, so needless to say none of my information was saved. I have my photos & music on an external drive...except some stuff I thought I had saved that I was working on that was on my desktop. Other programs & stuff I have on cd-rom or on my laptop, or I can re-download from the website. So, it's not so bad. Since I was going to have to replace the hard drive, upgrade my operating system, have it installed, and get a new bigger monitor to make it easier to work on photos, it was just wiser to purchase a whole new computer & monitor. A new one would have all that, and I didn't think it was worth it to spend that much money on an old computer...plus, that computer was like 4 or 5 yrs old. Computers have changed a lot in that amount of time. So anyway, that's what I did, I got a new one.
This is what I got...

It's pretty awesome! It has a 750GB hard drive, 8GB memory. blue ray/dvd player, tv tuner, wireless LAN, all the media drives, and something that caught my attention, an easy backup button on the tower...that will definitely come in handy!
A 24 inch compared to the 17 inch one I had is awesome, too. It's a flat panel on a double hinged base...you can adjust it vertically up & down, and forward & backward, plus it has a 360 degree swivel on the bottom. I have it sitting on a round table behind my couch, so I can turn it, grab the keyboard, & work on it sitting on the couch. It's also amazing how vibrant the colors are in pix on the HD screen. (You can also tell which ones are of lower quality...or were edited badly.) I got a pretty good deal, too. They didn't have a new monitor in stock, so I bought the display one, that had only been out for 2 months, for 10% off. It's really great to be able to pull up 2 full size photos and/or windows/web pages & view them side by side. Oh yeah, you can also twist the screen from landscape view to portrait view.
I'm gonna
having this computer.
I'm glad my other one died!
