Did we get to see the total lunar eclipse tonight?? Yes...I did. There won't be another total lunar eclipse until Dec. 20, 2010.
This set is the colorless version where gradually the Earth's shadow appears totally black on the moon to the point where the moon was completely covered with the Earth's shadow.
This set is the version where you can see the red/orange hue from the sun through the Earth's atmosphere onto the moon...to the bottom left of the moon is Saturn and above the moon is Regulus, the brightest star of the Leo constellation. I was viewing from the end window of my apt. where I took out the window screen. That thing...in the right upper corner...the window sill, but I thought it added a little something to the photos. That was the best I could do without falling out the window!
Here is one more closeup of the moon...
And, here is one more closeup of saturn...the colors in it look pretty cool. I wish I'd had a telescope and/or telephoto lens cuz they said you could see saturn's rings with one. That would have been really cool...so, maybe I'll have one for next time.
Isn't it just so cool to look out into the night sky, into space, wondering what is out there...
imagining all of the sights like the astronauts get to see?

I think the window sill is awesome cause it adds like a "sun's glow" or space shuttle afterburner or whatever. great shots.. i am really impressed with that lens (assuming 28-135mm)

Actually, there were fifty other people in line with me so I only got to spend 30 seconds at the telescope
