I'm pissed off and miserable. I don't really know why. Oh, right, my life thus far has gone, and as far as I can tell is going, nowehere.
I just finished "The Confusion", pt. 2 of Neal Stephenson's Baroque Cycle, so the most uplifting thing on my reading list is Foucault's "Discipline and Punish." Not a terribly uplifting text thus far, albeit a fascinating moral and intellectual excursion.
I'm broke, my parents are broke, and when it comes down to it all, I'm still just a frustrated savant from a crappy place in the world. I have a few connections, but none of these have been terribly useful as of yet.
Today: I overdressed for work, randomly. I met the Congressman I've been working for. I made a date to meet a friend and her boyfriend at Powell's tomorrow. I found out that the problem with my computer isn't the power supply, which is under warranty, but my CMOS chip (which means that my hot motherboard may be fin. A pretty girl noticed me looking at her, and waved as I passed in my car. I discovered that the charger for my housemate's drill is failing to charge batteries, which means we probably won't finish the coffee table we're working on in time to surprise his girlfriend when she comes home.
I feel miserable, alone, and angry. I want to get into a fight. I don't care if I win or lose, I just want something to matter.
What matters to you?
