I found a tumor on Duke [my dog]. It's bigger than a golf ball in size. I never noticed it because it is close to his inner thigh and all his floof masks it. I discovered it while brushing him. He's not a belly rub kind of dog, otherwise I may have noticed it sooner.
I'm not going to freak out about it because it feels fatty and probably is a benign lipoma [fatty tumor]. I have to take him to work with me next week anyways for bloodwork. I will have the doctor aspirate it [stick it with a needle, suck up cells] and look at it under the microscope. If need be we'll send the slides to the lab for analysis. If I have to I will do surgery on him but I really don't want to. The tumor is in a horrible spot for healing. If I do surgery, I will send the tumor out for biopsy.
My pupper is almost 13. Huskies live to be about 13-16. We'll see how it goes. I hope it's not the C-word.
