About work, of course. We had an 'emergency' Thursday night, dog fight. Doc tells me to hang out and triage the dog, she'll go on to her appointment without me. After dawdling around they bring the dog in. His front legs are swollen and I'm checking his wounds, looking puzzled, I ask when the fight happened. 'Wednesday night' they reply. The fuck. You come in 30 minutes before closing to treat your dog for his wounds that happened 24 hours before? Ugh.
Then today I was in surgery. I had 2 dental cleanings, both of which needed major extractions. I do the scaling and polishing, doctors do extractions. I monitor while they do extractions, doc monitors while I clean. Each dental took 3 hours. That's fine, no problem. Buuuut. My fellow co-workers were experiencing the fuckiest of all clusters. We were shorthanded. Dogs were being squirrelly. Inexperienced people were trying to do jobs they couldn't do or hadn't learned fully yet. I had to walk away from my patient to help. Not saying I am better than anyone, I'd never do that. But because I wasn't in the middle of it all I was able to come in with a clear head and say 'you do this' or 'here I'll help'. I wasn't under all the stress they were. Everyone had a short fuse today except me and surgery doc because we only has those 2 procedures to worry about. Still, I was wrist deep in one of the grossest dog mouths I have ever seen. So bad.
I have the weekend off to relax, I'm happy about that! And what's a blog without pictures to make it kinda interesting.
