Ok
So last night i was flipping through the tv(i don't know why i do this, everything is in chines, i guess it's just a habit)
So as i was flipping to my suprise i came across an english program, so now i feel compelled to watch since it is such a rarity to find, and it turned out to be a great documentary on the Afgan girl who posed for pictures for the cover of national geographic meny years ago.
So the program was about the man who took the picture over 17 years ago trying to find the girl that had become one of the most famous pictures from the last 20 years, so he goes back to where he had originally took the picture and begins to ask if anyone knew her and/or where she was, so many people in this remote village begin to give him tips and leads as to who she is and where she is now. many of the tips turned up to be the wrong girl, possibly because they saw the television crew and thought that money would follow, but regardless after meeting with numerous girls and taking their pictures and having them analyzed(some dudes can look at the photos of the eyes and throw em in a computer to find out if it is a mach or not) they found that none of the girls they had met with were if fact the girl.
So the day before the man leaves he is approached by a gentleman who says that he knows the girl and where she is living and offers to travel to where she is now and try to locate her. a day passes and the NG dude hasn't heard shit so he leaves, as he's at the airport he gets a call that they have located her, but the man must leave so he sends one of his colleagues to go and check it out, so the man meets with this girls brother and he says that yes it is infact his sister and that he will try to arrange a meeting with her.
a problem arises when they go to meet her, because of their customes it is not an everyday occurance when a man can see a married womens face, so they send in one of the females with the crew to take some pics, after she is done the man gets the "ok" to go in and take some pics as well.
So the dude finishes and sends the pictures to get analyzed again, it turns out with out a doubt that this is in fact the original girl, so the man who took the original picture goes back to afganistan to meet with this girl again after 17 years, and as soon as the 2 meet each other you can tell that they have met before, and they kinda "chit chat" and shit like that and he begins to shoot another set of pics of this girls who's face was one of the most amazing pics i have ever seen, as he continues he gets permission from the husband to take a picture of her with her head fully exposed.
this was just a really good show that i wanted to share, cuz for some reason i have always loved that picture ever since i was a kid.
i added a picture (in my pics cuz i don't know how to get one in the journal entry section) of the girl now with the original photo in her hand, incase you have no idea what i'm talking about.
