When, two weeks ago, a girl named Sophie invited me to organise an evening out on her behalf, I accepted the thankless task in the foolish belief that it might get her to like me. When, two weeks later, she had failed even to confirm her attendance at the soire, let alone thank me for organising it, I call her up to find her ducking out of the whole arrangement on the spurious pretext of a dental appointment. That, I believe, is the end of that friendship.
Naturally, I went along to the evening anyway (having, after all, organised the fucker) and, as my friends stuffed their faces with nachos and potato wedges, I munched my way though a spinach and garlic salad and a plate of whitebait and felt all virtuous. Turns out I'm a good person after all.
Did some shopping today. Bought a little portable CD player for the office so that I can listen to tunes whilst talking to youse guys late at night.
Stereo has been road-tested this evening with Paul Hindemith's 'Mathis der Maler' symphony. I know, I know, I'm a pretentious twat!
Also bought Mystic River by Dennis Lehane, The Big Little Book of the Tarot, for getting back into the swing of this divination lark, and a copy of the Tao te ching.
I can't believe I've made it through 29 years without a copy of the Tao te ching, but there you go...
Here's a little observation for today, no. 38:
'Foreknowledge is the flowery embellishment of the way
And the beginning of folly.'
I don't know what it means, but that's the point of the Tao, n'est-ce pas? You have to let it sit with you for a while until it chooses (or not) to reveal its meaning.
I love you all.

I forgot to tell you that you've paid me a terrible compliment (that's good) and in that I've felt better about some parts of myself than I have in years. I try to bring an honest heart to this medium, since I don't require it in my normal Life, and it is most pleasing to see the affect.
Fuck that bitch, that's just rude. Why do people ask for things they don't really want, and why not want a party? WTF over...
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the spinach (eeew
Like a dog returneth to his vomit, so the fool returneth to his folly.
