In the last week I got in contact with Colin Paterson from the BBC and he expressed interest in the idea and helped me get in touch with people to see if I can get their list of 20 songs to listen to at the end of the world. The first person I contacted was Nerina Pallot and here is the reply I got from that wonderful and talented lady.
Hi Michael
What a wonderful idea. I've often thought of my Desert Island Discs, so I guess this is an extended version... Here goes, and if you need to know why for any of the choices just let me know!
1. 'Slip Sliding Away' by Paul Simon
2. 'Birthday' by The Beatles
3. 'You Can't Always Get what You Want' by The Rolling Stones
4. 'In My Life' by The Beatles
5. 'Dancing Queen' by ABBA
6. 'Reelin In The Years' by Steely Dan
7. 'Too Late' by Carole King
8. 'You Get What You Give' by New Radicals
9. 'On Top of The World' by The Carpenters
10. 'Bright Eyes' by Art Garfunkel
11. 'I'm Every Woman' by Chaka Khan
12. 'Enjoy the Silence' by Depeche Mode
13. 'Both Sides, Now' by Joni Mitchell
14. 'Kooks' by David Bowie
15. 'Berkley Girl' by Harper Simon
16. 'Golden' by Jill Scott
17. 'Sign of The Times' by Prince
18. 'Aphrodite' by Kylie Minogue (and me!)
19. 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' by Simon & Garfunkel
20. 'Les Fleurs' by Minnie Ripperton
Hope this helps!
