Last week we had the remnants of the hurricane come through. I was out and about at 130 and when I turned on my street the water from the non stop deluge had flooded an intersection. When I got home I saw that the water had started to seep out of the communal laundry room into the hallway, it happened 2 years ago and nothing go in my apartment. So I blocked my door with some big towels and went to sleep on the sofa with the light on in the living room. Sometime around 220 in the morning we lost power. I got up at 3 to go to the bathroom and my feet hit wet carpet in the living room. As I walked down the hallway there was standing water above the carpet and the bedroom was worse, it came through the wall in the bedroom.
We got power at 5 in the morning and the computer blew up and so did the tv. They called in a clean up team and Sunday the removed all the carpets and cut one foot of drywall out. They put in huge drying fans and the place looks like a war zone.
The bad new is the losses I had are not covered by insurance because it was a flood, nor were the losses of the complex which had this happen to all first floor apartments, about 66 of them. I am on the way to a meeting with the local fire cheif and the state and hopefully we can apply for some kind of disaster relief. I lost thousands of dollars worth of stuff
To top it all off, when they were working with the drywall they screw up the internet, tv and phone and I was out of business for 18 hours, as even my wifi laptop could not get a signal.
oh well, at least I am fine.
