The long wait is over. Yesterday I got the promotion I wanted at my job. It was a long story, I applied for a higher position figuring that going through the interview process would let me see how their system worked and when I went for another position I would be more prepared. There were 7 candidates who applied and one of them was my supervisor. I figured he would get the job and I would them be in a position to apply and get his.
We had two interviews and I was top candidate in both according to my sources. My supervisor got fired and the only other real challenge for the position backed out. However there were 2 people from other branches that wanted to transfer in and were already in that position.
I talked to the store manager and I told him that I would be OK just to get my old supervisors job as that was my original idea. He announced it yesterday. But if I had not pulled out of the first one, I would have probably had that one as well.
I cannot complain, I got the promotion, a set schedule and more money.
