I was awakened early on Friday to be told that I was approved on my apartment. I guess they do not deal with many people out of state, as they did not take the time change into consideration. This place seems nice, a friend of mine has checked it out for me and knows the area well. I am moving to an area abut 14 miles from where I grew up and it is like a foreign country to me.
They do not use credit scores, but look at the credit report and do their own scoring, OK, but why. The did send me a confirmation with my new address, a list of phone numbers, phone, cable and electric company, great. The cable company is the one I have out here in Colorado so they will be no problem, just give them a call and they will open a new account and hook me up. The phone company is Verizon and the number I was given does not complete, it might just be a regioinal 800 number, but I sent them an email and they promised to get back to me within 24 hours. The real monkey wrench is the electric provided by the city, and you have to go there, fill out some paperwork and give a $100 deposit. WTF, I have not had a deposit for any untility in 20 years.
The woman asked me to come on over, I said it was a bit far, 1750 miles. When are you coming to town, I said the day I move in. Oh, well come on by, it should only take 30 minutes, WTF, 30 minutes to fill out a form and write a check.

um, it's actually pretty beautiful in a way. just because a nation is poor doesn't mean it's not a beautiful, cool place to go.
