Hey so it is now august, the last month of summer. As summer comes to an end I have decided to continue my schooling and work towards a bachelors degree. The hardest part is narrowing the list of majors. In life there are so many choices. There are soo many interesting and fun careers to get into. This is one of the harder parts of life i suppose. However I have managed to narrow my list of career options to: PR, HR, and QA. All three i could do with ease, all three would pay well enough to live off of. I do not want to go back to school again, so I want to get it right the first time.
I like the notion of PR because I job shadowed there once. It was a nice business office in a nice part of town, and it seems to be a very social job. As it should be, because it is all about marketing. Marketing is going through a huge boom right now, because there are soo many new businesses being created; from zoomcare, to new family owned businesses. Each selling their own idea and agenda. In order to succeed and thrive in this economy you need to have to sell something; whether it is your own personal skills or a product, selling is the main structure behind marketing. You cannot market yourself or your product you are sunk. The typical interview question "Why should WE hire you?" is the same as "Why should WE buy your product?" know the answer to those questions and you have set yourself up to succeed in the marketing business. Furthermore it is all about what is hip, new and trendy. That new and awesome video game you just purchased, is popular because a PR group decided to make it popular through commercials, and other means in order to get your money. The more popular the product is, the more likely people will buy it. The more people buy a Corporation/businesses product, the more profit is being created, and will turn into more jobs. It all helps the econonmy grow. Also as humans we are being conditioned to turn out commercials because we see them everywhere. Because of this PR employees must strive and create other selling points, and find creative ways to catch our attention. Thats why things we buy are shiny, or have shiny paper or attractive pictures. is to create a desire of want. Because PR has gotten so big, it seems like a good choice for employment. Once I master the skills of marketing skys the limit to how far i can go with that.
